In the darkness I parked the van 300 miles from home; I drove all night; it must've been near dawn when I drove through the opening in the wire fence surrounding the field. Joshua was asleep in the back lying on an open sleeping bag with another over top of him with a big fluffy pillow. I locked the front doors and crawled in beside Joshua. As I was beginning to nod off, a very fast creature made a whirring sound as it circled the van four times and then disappeared.
Maybe it was indian magic. I was on Manitoulin Island; home of Manitou & maybe Nanabush; I don't remember now. A cold chill of fear ran through me; I rushed to lock the back two doors of the van. I had never heard a sound like that before; a rushed circle around the van. Protection?
We slept until morning and woke up in a field of daisies.
It's a mystery.
